Suki’s Salons is hosting The Barber Blueprint, a two-day hands-on course with barber Lyle Kieselbach. It is built for stylists who want cleaner fades, sharper line-ups and more confidence behind the chair. Attend one day or both, and take home a repeatable system you can use on any head shape or hair type. BeautyCouncil members save 10 per cent.

Course Details

  • Dates: Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21, 2026
  • Time: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day
  • Location: Suki’s South Granville, 3157 South Granville Street, Vancouver
  • Cost: $300 per day — choose one day or both. Members save $30.
  • Format: Demonstration plus hands-on practice
  • Instructor: Lyle Kieselbach
  • Register: Email Michelle at michelle@sukis.com

What You Will Learn

The two days build a foundation in the techniques behind polished, professional barber cuts:

  • Clipper techniques
  • Fading
  • Blending
  • Detailing and finishing
  • Custom sectioning
  • Blow-drying and style control
  • Controlled texturizing with shears
  • Scissor-over-comb and clipper-over-comb
  • Shaping and line-ups

Day 1 — Shape and Shading

Day one covers how to combine precision cutting with clipper work to create controlled shapes and haircuts that hold up between visits. You will work on:

  • Combination fade techniques, including mullets, burst fades and blowouts
  • Silhouette and shading fundamentals

Day 2 — Fades and Technical Barbering

Day two moves into a consistent system for customized fades across different head shapes and hair types, from the basics through to more advanced work:

  • Fading foundations
  • Skin fades
  • Mid fades
  • High fades
  • Shaping and line-ups

Why It Is Worth Your Time

  • Add barbering services to your menu and open up a wider client base
  • Work through the techniques on real hair with feedback in the room, not just a demonstration to watch
  • Learn an approach you can repeat on any client rather than a single look
  • Pick the day that fits your schedule and your skill level

What to Bring

Participants supply their own barbering tools:

  • Clipper with 0.5, 1 and 1.5 guards
  • Trimmer
  • Scissors, both regular and thinning
  • Cutting combs and hair clips
  • Blow dryer
  • Vent brush
  • Straight razor (optional)
