Started in the Okanagan Valley by a mother looking for cleaner options for her family, this female-owned company wildcrafts their hair care in small batches right in BC.

What makes them different:

The bars are concentrated, waterless formulas. One full-size bar replaces about three 250ml bottles and can last up to 100 washes. The company creates their own botanical extracts using organic harvesting practices, which means they can target specific hair and scalp concerns—thinning hair, sensitivity, dryness, or oiliness—without relying on synthetic fixes.

Everything is vegan and made with ingredients that are either organically farmed, sustainably sourced, or readily biodegradable. The bars require less water to manufacture than liquid products, and many people find they can wash their hair less often after switching over.

For every order placed, High End Hippie plants a tree through TreeEra, a Canadian organization that works in BC, Ontario, Africa, and Costa Rica. So far, they’ve planted over 3,800 trees and kept nearly 23,000 plastic bottles out of landfills.

Their packaging uses post-consumer waste or Forest Stewardship Council certified paper. They also work with a Green-e certified printer to offset carbon emissions. Because the bars weigh less than liquid shampoo, shipping creates fewer emissions too.
