Free business education and workplace accessibility grants to encourage inclusive work environments
Do you have any team members who may need some specialized design to work in your space? Would you like to open your doors to someone who may have a disability (even a minor one)? Now you can get a grant for adapting your space.
Disabilities are more common than you may think
Disabilities come in all shapes and sizes. It could be a stylist who has challenges hearing properly, or a nail tech who needs a bit of help with a work station that’s built to suit an injury. Fully 20% of British Columbians identify as disabled in some way – here is your chance to accommodate your space for them!
Get a grant up to $2,500 for your retrofits
The Workplace Accessibility Grant offers eligible employers $2500 to remove workplace barriers and to improve physical environments, technology, communication, and access to information for employees with disabilities.
The grant can be used for a wide-range of projects, including:
- Adapting the environment: adding ramps, lighting, accessible washrooms and more.
- Adding technologies: such as software that enables accessible documents, tablets, laptops and specialized tools.
- Information and communication: ASL or Braille versions of company documents, website updates for accessibility, screen readers and more.
- Changing policies and practices: anti-bias training, ASL interpretations, accessibility audit, etc.
