ATTN: BeautyCouncil community! We wanted to fill you in about what’s going on behind the scenes here at the association.
If you’re a member, you’re hopefully familiar with our board. However, you might not be aware that we recently made a few changes and expanded our board from 5 to 7 people. There are a couple of reasons for this:
- For one, having a larger team simply allows us to devote more time and energy to the projects that are important to the association.
- And two, we knew it was important to create more diversity in the board, so that each of the sectors of our industry could be properly represented and advocated for — especially through a pandemic!
We’re proud to say that our board now includes representation from each profession, including one or more hair stylists, estheticians, barbers, nail technicians, lash technicians, makeup artists, business owners, and educators. You can learn more about each of our board members here.
What’s more? We’ve created new formal committees to best utilize the talents and expertise of our board — and to keep us accountable and on track with the projects that are most important to the association. These new committees include:
- Member Development
- Salon Guidance for Apprentices
While we promise not to bore you with our meeting minutes and administrative details, we do need your help. Look out for regular updates on our upcoming projects, as well as call outs for your feedback, insight and involvement — because we can only represent you, our community, to the extent that you let us. That means we need to hear from you, from each and every sector of our industry!
To start, we are currently working on defining projects for 2021 and the resources needed to support them. That means, we need to know:
What do you hope to see from BeautyCouncil as a whole in 2021, and what would you like to see from the individual committees? What are the real challenges you’re experiencing, and what kind of support do you think the association could provide? You can reach out to us privately.
While these are big questions, they’ll help us understand the most urgent needs of our community. Thank you so much for your involvement and your dedication to our industry. We look forward to working together more closely in the coming year.
