BeautyCouncil Launches Bursary Program for Aspiring Beauty Professionals

BeautyCouncil is launching a new bursary program to help bring the next generation of talent into BC’s salon, spa, and barbershop industry.
We hear it from members all the time. Finding good people is hard. That’s why BeautyCouncil is putting real dollars behind the next generation of beauty professionals in British Columbia.
This year, we’re launching the BeautyCouncil Bursary Program — five awards of $1,000 each for students enrolled in accredited cosmetology programs across BC. Hair, esthetics, barbering, spa therapy. If they’re training to join our industry, they can apply.
Why this matters to you
Every bursary recipient is a potential future employee, colleague, or booth renter walking into your salon, spa, or barbershop. By supporting students now, we’re helping to build a stronger talent pipeline for the businesses that need it most. Yours.
This program also raises the profile of our industry. It sends a clear message that careers in beauty are worth investing in — and that an organized, professional community stands behind the people entering the field.
We asked you what matters
The selection criteria came straight from our members. Through survey feedback, you told us what qualities matter most in a new professional:
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Professionalism — showing up on time, being reliable
- A genuine commitment to learning and growing
- Creativity and passion for the craft
- Financial need or barriers to entry
- Community involvement
That’s exactly how applicants will be evaluated.
